Correspondence of Isaac C. Drake, 1862-1863.

Letters written by Isaac C. Drake while serving with the 46th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers Company H during the Civil War. Most of the letters were written from Newbern and Plymouth, North Carolina and the letters were written to his wife, Lydia (Thrasher) Drake, and his daughter, Jennie (Drake) Lamson. The last letter, dated June 28, 1863, was written by Isaac's brother-in-law, Austin T. Hancock, announcing Isaac Drake's death to Lydia.

Isaac C. Drake, the son of Lot and Nancy (Cole) Drake, was born 6 February 1837 in Worthington, Mass. He married Lydia Thrasher on 17 March 1856. In September 1862, Isaac enlisted in the Union Army.
